My attempts at using a curling wand (+ 50% off L’Ange hair care tools & products!)

L’Ange is a new company that specializes in hair tools and hair care products. They sent me one of their hair straighteners and one of their curling wands to try out recently.

I’ve long admired the look that I see many people achieving with curling wands, but I’ve struggled to get a hair wand to work on my hair. I usually burn myself or the finished look goes straight within minutes or it looks frizzy or a multitude of other issues.

But I’m not one to give up easily, so I was determined to try again and maybe get it to work this time! I used the 25mm Ondule Curling Wand shown above to do my experimentation.

I pulled up half of my hair and did the bottom half first. I took about one-inch sections of hair and wrapped them around the curling wand and then held it for 10 seconds per section.

I then gently released it and let that section cool and went on to the next one-inch section. Once the bottom half was done, I moved onto the top half of my hair.

It took me about 10 minutes to do all of my hair — mostly because I’m slow and still learning how to use the wand! I think I could probably do it in 7-8 minutes once I get more experienced at it.

I was really happy with the finished look. It was loose waves — not too loose and not too tight. I sprayed it all over with hair spray and the waves have stayed all day long!

(Note: You can see how it looks from the front in this Facebook Live video I did this morning here.)

Do you use a curling wand? If so, what are your tips and tricks for curling wand success? Any pointers for me? I’d love to hear!
