A Peek Into This Past Week (+ my goals & Habit Tracker update!)

Welcome to my weekly post sharing a peek into our past week + giving you an update on how I did on my goals this past week and my habits chart the last week.

Jesse and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary — and celebrated by going out with two other couples to dinner and axe-throwing.

So grateful for the gift of friendships — and all the laughter and life we’ve shared with the couples pictured here.

Also, a throwback to 20 years ago on our wedding! (By the way, I posted this on Instagram and people were very confused about what the blue drink was — those are floating candles in blue water. Also, I wore my mom’s dress, in case you were wondering about that! And yes, Jesse looked like he was 15!!)

Our kids got out photo albums of when they were little to show Kierstyn.

And then we spent a long time all going through them together!

We couldn’t believe how much little Silas looks like Micah does now!

Kierstyn has been doing My Father’s World PreK and loving it. One of the big encouragements in this curriculum this year is to really take time to examine pictures and notice detail. She has been really enjoying it!

Thursdays are Kierstyn’s swimming lesson days — which she also really enjoys!

Micah decided he wanted to learn how to stand up now and he surprised us all by being able to hold a standing position like this for a few minutes!

It snowed one day last week briefly and Kierstyn and David were very excited about it!

We spend a lot of time on the basketball sidelines right now and I love it! Plus, it’s so much easier with three little ones now that we’ve had months of practice and Kierstyn is a little older!

Silas is playing on two different basketball teams right now and I love watching him play his heart out!

Micah’s newest trick is to clap his hands. He wants to show anyone and everyone that he can do it! 🙂

Our church has this huge poster of Goliath up on the wall right now — and our little David is fascinated with it.

As I watched him keep toddling over to the poster on Sunday (see second slide), it was such a visual representation to me of the Biblical David & Goliath story.

God doesn’t need our strength, our stamina, our power, our fortitude, or our ability. All He needs is a willingness for us to show up in obedience. To open up our hands, to acknowledge our need before Him, and to step out in faith.

If God chooses you and you step out in faith and say yes — despite how inadequate, inept, or ill-qualified you may feel — He can equip you to do great and mighty things, far beyond what you could ever dream or imagine!

Here’s my update on my Habits Chart from last week. My goal is to have 5 x’s in each line — I hit that in 7 lines this past week, so still room for improvement, but also lots of room for celebration. And progress over last week when I only hit 5 x’s in 5 lines!

2023 Weekly Goals Update

Every week, I’ll be giving an update on how I’m doing on my goals — since they are weekly goals. I thought it would be fun to do an update with a running total of how many weeks I hit them throughout the year. This week, I hit all of the goals — yay!!

Goal #1: Lose .1% Body Fat Per Week

This goal was pretty easy to hit this week just by hitting my workout goals, making movement a priority, drinking more water, and eating more protein.

Update: 2/52

Goal #2: Have One Family Dinner Per Week

We ended up having two family dinners with everyone this past week! I think just prioritizing it by putting it on my goals and daily habits list has made SUCH a difference in me getting creative in finding ways to make it happen!

Update: 2/52

Goal #3: Finish One Book Per Week

Here’s the book I finished last week + my review.

Update: 2/52

Goal #4: Have One Date With One Family Member Per Week

Jesse and I went on a date with two other couples for our 20th anniversaries (yes, we all celebrated 20th anniversaries within a week of each other!). We went out to dinner and axe-throwing (see above!). It was such a fun experience!

Update: 2/52

Goal #5: Spend 25 Minutes on Organizing/Decluttering Each Week

You can see the decluttering and organizing I did last week here.

Update: 2/52

Goal #6: Delete 300 Photos/Videos From My Phone Each Week

I deleted more than 300 and it felt good!

Update: 2/52

52 Weeks of Organizing: Clothes, Jewelry, & Winterwear

I set a goal for 2023 to spend 5 minutes every day decluttering/organizing. I’m sharing 5 minute projects on Instagram each week day, if you’d like to follow along. For those who don’t have Instagram or miss some of my stories, I thought I’d do a recap post here each week with a peek into the organizing/decluttering I did this past week.

Monday: Go Through Your PJ’s

I went through and found a few different things that no longer fit, were super worn, or I just haven’t worn in a long time.

Here was the pile I came up with, including my last maternity item to get rid of — my favorite maternity PJ’s (they were so comfy to wear for awhile postpartum but they no longer fit).

Tuesday: Go Through Your Pants, Shorts, and Jeans

I found three item to get rid of — two pair of shorts that I just never loved the fit of + a pair of jeans that is now too big for me.

Wednesday: Go Through Your Jewelry

I found a few different earrings without matches, a few pieces that were broken, and a few items that I just never wear anymore so it’s time to get rid of them.

Thursday: Go Through Your Tops

I found four tops to get rid of — two that I just rarely wear and two that were really worn out and had holes in them and it’s time to retire them.

Friday: Go Through Your Winterwear — Scarves, Gloves, Hats, etc.

Our tub of winter gear had gotten pretty disorganized in the past month and it was good to go through it.

I re-organized it, got rid of a few items, and put a few baby items up in our foster closet to save for if/when we say yes to another baby.
