Crystal’s $68 Kroger & Aldi Shopping Trips + our menu plan

If you’re new here, I practice the Buy Ahead Principle — which means that what we buy each week is often for future weeks. We stock up on the best deals and markdowns each week and that means that we then have a variety of items from previous shopping trips to use to plan a menu from.

In addition to practicing the Buy Ahead Principle, I Reverse Meal Plan. This means that I plan based upon what we have on hand plus what good sales/markdowns I found at the stores. (Read more about Reverse Meal-Planning here.)

{Follow me on Instagram stories for real-time videos on what I’m buying if you don’t want to have to wait for me to get the post written up for the blog!}

This is a great deal on eggs at Kroger — especially since the price of eggs has gone up so much recently! You can get up to 5 dozen with the weekly digital coupon.

My shopping helper! She likes to point out what food we walk by and talk about how much she likes each thing! 🙂

Kroger also has Kellogg’s cereal for $1.89 a box with the digital coupon. You can get up to 5 boxes at this price.

And grapes were $0.89/lb.

Here’s everything I got — that big box of chips was marked down to $4.99! Our total was a little less than $46.

And then I went to Aldi today — I hadn’t been there in a few months and price have definitely gone up, sadly.

Here’s what I got for a little less than $22.

Our Menu Plan for This Week

Breakfast — Baked Oatmeal, cereal/milk, fruit/yogurt

Lunches — turkey, veggies, fruit, crackers, leftovers, yogurt, PB&J, salad/toast, mac & cheese, chips

Snacks — Banana Bread, crackers, popcorn, fruit, brownies, chips, Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins

Dinners (we usually have fruit/veggies on the side) — Mac & Cheese with ground beef, Waffles/Sausage/Fruit, Bacon/Tomato/Avocado Sandwiches, Southwest Rollups, Pizza (homemade or from the freezer, depending upon my inspiration level!), Leftovers/Fend For Yourself, Dinner Out
