Answering Your Burning Questions

It’s time for another edition of Answering Your Burning Questions! About once a quarter, Jesse and I sit down and devote a podcast episode to your questions. In this episode, we answer these questions:

  • Is Jesse still doing CrossFit? (We also share a little more about current workout routines.)
  • What top three tips would you give to your pre-married selves?
  • When do you plan to retire?
  • What are your favorite activities to do with each of the kids?
  • Should you pay off your mortgage or invest the money?
  • Did you record your own podcast intro?

As usual, we also banter about other things: like the phrase “eat crow” — which I recently discovered a lot of people have never heard of before, an electronic tool that is saving both of our lives (and I can’t believe we waited so long to get this!), plus a book I recently finished.

In This Episode:

[00:43] It’s that time again! We’re answering your burning questions.

[01:30] What we learned about the phrase, “eat crow.”

[03:43] The same product is again saving our lives this week… a video baby monitor.

[06:20] We are having trouble finding the exact model to share but here’s a bit more about it.

[08:22] I just finished, The Things We Cannot Say by Kelly Rimmer.

[10:00] First question, does Jesse still do CrossFit?

[13:00] The top three tips we’d give our pre-married selves.

[15:52] Stop trying to fix your spouse!

[19:16] Our favorite activities to do with the kids.

[22:56] Is retirement in our future? What would it look like?

[24:40] Does Jesse think it’s smarter to invest or pay off your mortgage?

[30:14] No, I did not do the intro to the podcast. Learn more about the process.

A Peek Into Last Week (+ my goals for this week)

I wrote a post about taking collagen every day and loved hearing your responses, thoughts, and ideas in the comments.

We rented a movie theater for Kathrynne’s 16th birthday. It was the perfect quarantine birthday party idea and it was a good deal — just $99 for up to 20 people!

We got to babysit him two days last week and he’s getting so big! He loves this ABC verse book and wants me to read it multiple times every time he comes to visit.

Happy first birthday, sweet baby boy! We love you more than words can express.

Getting to mother you this past year while your mama got healthy and strong was one of the greatest honors of my life. I hope some day when you’re older, I’ll get the chance to tell you just how hard she worked and how much she overcame because of how much she loves you.

You are brave and strong, just like your mama. You have overcome so many odds and continue to surprise us all with how fast you learn, how determined you are, and how you don’t give up even when things are tough.

Saying goodbye and giving you back to your mama was one of the happiest and hardest, brutal and beautiful things I’ve done so far in life. And it helped me understand a little bit more the depths of love God has for me… He sent His One and Only Son into the world — for me, for you.

We are so crazy proud of you and miss you so much when you aren’t here. But we are so thrilled you are thriving and being loved so well with your mama and we are humbly grateful that she loves you so much that she wants us to continue to be actively involved in your life.

Wherever you go, a part of our hearts will always go with you. You are such a gift, little boy, and we can’t wait to see what this next year holds for you!

This girl is growing so much. She has two teeth now, is learning how to open cupboards and drawers, and is babbling and climbing so much!
