Welcome to my weekly Slow Day post, inspired by Monica from The Homespun Heart. My Word for 2018 is Slow and, in the spirit of that word, I'm taking one day each week (Wednesday) off — I'll be unplugged and offline and plan to move at a slower pace, take time to do things that refresh me, and just really focus on being present and savoring the moment.

They put the flooring in my new offie yesterday! I hadn’t gotten to see it finished because I had been out late the night before and never made it to the basement when I got home to check on it!
I am so excited with how this project is turning out and can’t wait to show you when the furniture is all in and it’s done!
After getting ready and getting everyone out the door, we left for school. As I told you last week, we decided that on Wednesdays, I’ll go with the kids to their morning chapel (parents are always welcome — which is so nice!)
Since we got to school about 15 minutes early, I hung out with Kaitlynn until chapel started.
She gets two lockers and she has had fun setting them all up. 🙂 (One of her biggest excitements this year was the fact that she was going into 7th grade and got a LOCKER! Actually, she gets two lockers because there are only 10 kids in 7th to 12th grade — yes, it’s a very tiny school!)

Loved getting to sit between this guy and Kaitlynn.
I drove to downtown Nashville for my hair appointment… and then got to sit in a chair for two hours and read. It’s the BEST! I finished this book. (Read my review here.)

Afterwards, I had two other appointments and then I came home and helped this guy with homework.
We look forward to our 4 p.m. time every day when we just hang out and talk and finish up whatever homework he or the girls need help with. The girls rarely need my help with homework and he’s getting more and more independent, but they still love me just being there and available. And it’s often when all sorts of conversations arise about what they are excited about, what happened at school, things they are frustrated with, etc.
This afternoon, one of the girls needed some extra time to talk. So we just sat on the bed and talked for about 30 minutes after homework time. And then I made pancakes for everyone for dinner and then I took the girls to church and I headed to a meeting with some church leaders about a project I’m involved with.
I then picked the girls up, came home and made sure everyone was ready for school in the morning, and then worked on outlining my first podcast episode for Thursday’s recording.
