You’ve heard of Uber, right? The car service that will pick you up from pretty much anywhere and take you wherever you want to go — all with just a few taps of a button from an app on your phone. We’ve loved the service and use it often when traveling for business as we’ve found that it’s often less expensive than renting a car.
I was intrigued when I found out that Uber has now launched a new service called UberEATS — a food delivery service that will bring food to you from area restaurants, coffee shops, ice cream shops, and smoothie shops! And it only takes a few taps of a button on your phone.
UberEATS designed this service to make it easier for you to eat good food — even if your fridge is empty, you don’t feel like going to a restaurant, you’re busy with holiday activities and preparations, and/or you’re out of time to shop for dinner.
They want to help you have a less-hectic December by helping you check a few things off your to-do list — like running to grab dinner for your guests, picking up food for your office Christmas lunch, or stopping by a local restaurant to pick up a few things to supplement that meal you made for your Christmas party.
{Personally, I think it would also be great for busy entrepreneurs or those who work in an office to use on those days when you’re in the middle of a big project and just don’t have time to stop to make food!}
With UberEATS, you can get the food you want, from the restaurants you love, delivered at Uber speed. It's like an Uber for your food!
There are hundreds of great local restaurants to choose from, and you can get fast delivery from the full menus at those restaurants. The average order only takes 35 minutes from start to finish. You can even track your order as it’s on its way to you!
We got the opportunity to try out this service for our family and we had a lot of fun doing so. The app is really easy to use. You just download it, choose your location, and then you’re given a list of restaurants in your area that UberEATS will deliver from.
You choose the restaurant you want to order from, choose what you want to order, and then place your order. By the way, during the month of December they’re offering free delivery on all orders over $50.
Once you order, you’re immediately given an estimated time of when your order will arrive.The app is updated regularly as to the time of arrival and you’ll get a notification when your food is on the way.
Your hot food is delivered to your door — all within about 35 minutes from start to finish! Just like Uber, you pay directly through the app.
They also have a referral program that allows you to give $10 credit to your friends when they place their first order — and you’ll get $5 in credit when they sign up and use the service. (Please note: The links in this post are not my referral links.)
