As I’ve been doing more live videos, a lot of people have been asking me for details on where I get the clothes that I wear in the videos. Since I’m a big fan of not keeping great finds and deals to myself, I thought I’d share a post about three of my favorite summer shirts. These are ones you’ve seen show up over and over again in my videos this summer.
If you find this post helpful and would like to see more frugal fashion type posts, let me know in the comments and I’ll definitely consider it for the coming weeks and months!
Here are 3 different shirts I have loved and worn over and over again this summer:
I love how this blouse fits — it’s forgiving and slimming, but the material is light so it’s very cool on hot days. It can be washed normally and doesn’t need to be ironed.
It’s a very classic style that looks great with shorts, jeans, or dress pants. You could probably also even pair it with a skirt.
I have it in both the teal and blue colors shown above and love both of them. Please note that it is very thin and see through material, so you’ll want to wear a cami underneath. I’ve worn both black and white camis and both work well. {I have these camis and they work well.}
I have on one of the shirts in this video here, in case you’re interested in seeing what it looks like on me.
I love that this shirt comes in so many different colors, a few different patterns, and a few different neck styles.
Pair it with shorts and strappy sandals, jeans and wedges, or dress pants and a light sweater and dress flats. I like to wear a long, dangly necklace with it.
I usually don’t wear flow-y type shirts, but I really love this shirt. And I get a lot of compliments on it every time I wear it.
It’s comfortable, cute, and can be dressed up or dressed down. It’s also very forgiving. I think it especially looks cute with white cuffed jeans and wedges, though I’ve worn it often with shorts, too.
You can completely change up the look with different jewelry. I sometimes wear long, dangly delicate jewelry with it to give it a more sophisticated look and sometimes I wear bigger, chunkier jewelry to give it more of a fun look.
Note: This shirt did not hold up as well in the wash as I would have liked. The side seams split a little after multiple washes. So while the shirt is super adorable, I’m going to guess that it’s not super high quality.
There are LOTS of different color combinations for this shirt here and even MORE here.
And finally, I love, love, love this t-shirt I got. The fit is great (it’s a junior tee so it’s a tighter fit than a ladies’ tee would be — which works great when you’re more on the petite end of the spectrum!) and the color is one of my favorites.
The material is really soft, too. But most of all, I just love what it says… because it’s perfect for this introverted blogger! People love it and I get compliments on it often. Just last night, I got stopped in a store and a man had to call his wife over to read it!
It would also make a great gift for a computer-loving, introverted friend!
5 Tips for Getting Deals on Clothes on Amazon
Be willing to dig. It’s not always easy to find what you’re looking for at first. Sometimes, you have to put in specific search terms to find exactly what you’re looking for. Don’t give up within a few tries; it’s probably there if you’re willing to dig!
Use as specific of search terms as possible. If you know a brand name and specific type of what you’re looking for, be sure to include those details in the search terms. Amazon carries a LOT of brands and you might be surprised what you find and the prices they are offering.
Look at the related searches. If you find an item you love, be sure to scroll down on the page to see the “Related Searches” items + the “People Who Bought This Also Bought” selections. In both cases, I’ll often find some great options there that I might not have found just by searching.
Always check the shipping price. Many clothes ship free to Amazon Prime members or with a qualified $49 purchase. Make sure you check the shipping price before falling in love with something — because sometimes it won’t be free and might be as high as $5-$6.
Look to see where something is made/ships from. Some of Amazon’s clothing ships from China and takes 4-6 weeks to arrive. Be aware of this when you are looking at items — especially if you are hoping to get them within in a few days.
8 Other Places to Get Great Deals on Clothes
Your Closet — Don’t run out and get something new because “you have nothing to wear” without first checking your closet. There might be a dozen items in there you’ve not worn for awhile just because you forgot about them! Save yourself a trip to the store plus the money for new clothes by making sure you’re wearing what you already own!
Thrift Stores — Thrift stores are a gold mine of deals, if you have the patience to dig and look. Approach it like a treasure hunt, have strict guidelines for what you are looking for, and make sure
Swap Meets with Friends — Get your group of girlfriends together and have everyone bring what they no longer love, need, fit into, or wear and swap out clothes. This is a fun way to freshen up your closet — for free!
TJ Maxx — I’ve found lots of great deals at TJ Maxx over the years. You never know quite what you’ll find, but it’s a great place to find deals on basics like camis, socks, scarves, and workout clothes.
Target — Target often releases great coupons through their cartwheel app that can be paired with items from the Clearance Racks. This can make for great deals!
Zulily — This is an online daily deal site that has lots of sales on ladies’ clothing. If you like certain name brands like Under Armor or Tom’s, check out this site for their regular sales.
ThredUp & Schoola — Both of these sites offer gently used clothing. I’ve ordered multiple items from both and have had relatively good experiences. ThredUp has a larger selection of ladies’ clothing, but the prices are a little higher. They are a great site to check out if you know certain brands you especially love but don’t want to pay full price for. Schoola specializes in kid’s clothing, but they do offer some ladies’ clothing as well. You can get a free $30 credit when you first sign up that can mean FREE clothes!
